Session Information: New Pathways to Emotionally Intelligent Performance Discussions.
Key Concepts:Participants will learn to apply the tools and methods to enhance discussions of performance and other situations having high emotional content. |
In 2003 David Caruso and I created a two day workshop called “Emotional Intelligence Critical Skills for Success”. The program has been conducted in the US, Europe and Asia with much success. Clients have requested additional half day application modules.
This presentation is a shortened version of the first applications module. This module, based on the Mayer/Salovey/Caruso ability based model of EI, emphasizes how to apply the practical skill and competencies necessary for effective, meaningful discussions about performance. The presentation will demonstrate how the wisdom in emotions can enhance your ability to have emotionally energizing discussions about individual performance. As a result of participating in our workshop, participants will: learn a specific approach for identifying, using, understanding and managing emotions during discussions about performance understand how to plan emotions for the beginning, middle and end of a performance discussion understand how to use Emotional Intelligence and core competencies to tie business needs to performance discussions. use the EI blueprint to solve problems and make decisions about when and how to hold performance discussions learn the distinction between what is truly a weakness and what is a development opportunity
