Session Information: Misconceptions about EQ: Deploying EQ in one's life dimensions.
Key Concepts:EQ's reliance on spiritual wellness. |
Two conceptions of EQ exist. The first defines EQ in a narrower sense (e.g. Salovey, Mayer). The other takes a more comprehensive view of EQ (e.g. Goleman, Cooper and Sawaf, Sterrett). Although some EQ specialists actually define EQ in a narrower sense, in their application of the concept, they use it in a more inclusive comprehensive manner. The impression is given that EQ constitutes one's essence and that it encompasses other life dimensions such as the spiritual, physical, mental and social. Another misconception is the tendency of some authors to confuse the emotional domain with the spiritual life dimension.
In this session the EQ domain misconception will be addressed by o defining the main life dimensions o indicating where and how EQ fits in one's life dimensions
The claims made by many EQ publications about the domain of EQ are being challenged. In this presentation the emotional dimension is deployed in accord with the life dimensions with special reference to one's spiritual dimension.
