Vinod K. Shanwal, Ph.D., is a Research Associate Fellow at the Institute of Human Behaviour & Allied Sciences (IHBAS), and Director at the Global Institute of Management & Technology, Delhi.
Dr Shanwal is the author of Emotional Intelligence:The Indian Scenario, and the receipient of the P.B. Buckshey Award, received in 2004 for best paper presentation in the Annual Conference of Indian Psychiatric Society, North Zone, Delhi, India.
He is Assistant Coordinator from India in organizing an International Conference on Mental Health held from 3rd to 6th Feb 2005 in Delhi, India, and was on the panel of World Association for Value Education (WAVE) as resource person.

The ways and means of developing emotional intelligence in young children to improve their classroom performance, adjustment, social acceptability and also enhance the chances of success in life goals will be touched upon. Data from developing countries is scarce and it will be particularly useful in learning cross-cultural evidence regarding emotional intelligence. It will be helpful in applying the construct of emotional intelligence and its influences in ensuring multifaceted development of an individual.
