Frances Johnston and Annie McKee will lead participants through a process of discovering how to create -- and sustain -- resonance in one's self and with others. Building on conclusions from Annie' new book (To Be a Leader, Harvard Business School Press, Fall 2005), and on Fran's vast experience in “leading leaders,” the two will engage you in learning how to be a resonant leader.
Resonance starts with Emotional Intelligence, but it doesn't end there. In order to create and sustain resonance in one's self and others, we need to recognize that the work of leaders is hard. It involves sacrifice, day in and day out. When power stress goes unchecked, it can lead to the sacrifice syndrome -- a stage in which a leader's effectiveness is halted and his/her behavior becomes damaging. To counter the effects of the sacrifice syndrome, leaders need to consciously engage renewal.
Annie and Fran will weave together psychology, neuroscience, management, and philosophy and engage you in a process of renewal. They will take you through experiences to enhance mindfulness, and to engage hope and compassion -- the foundations of renewal, resonance, and great leadership. Needless to say the session will be experiential, challenging and fun.
This session is co-presented with Annie McKee.
