Peter's recent work on emotion has focused on the ways in which feelings facilitate adaptive cognitive and behavioral functioning; with Jack Mayer, he has developed a broad framework called "Emotional Intelligence" that organizes his work; their papers on the concept in the early 1990s helped launch the international scientific movement and remain the seminal works in the field. His course in Psychology and Law was the most popular course in Yale University history. In his leisure time, Professor Salovey plays bass with the Professors of Bluegrass.

Reuven Bar-On, Ph.D.

Reuven BarOn is an internationally acknowledged expert and pioneer in emotional intelligence and has been involved in defining, measuring and applying this construct since 1980. He coined the term EQ, published the first EI measure (the EQ-i), created the first EI-enhancing Internet-delivered training program together with Rich Handley, co-edited the Handbook of Emotional Intelligence with Jim Parker, and is currently involved in the first longitudinal study of emotional intelligence at Human Resources Development Canada.

Jack is one of the leading pioneers researching emotional intelligence. Coauthor of the seminal articles in the field and of the first ability-based measure (the MSCEIT), Mayer has been investigating the interaction of emotion and thought since the early 70s.  In 1990, Dr. Mayer and his colleague, Dr. Peter Salovey of Yale University, published the first scientific article defining a new intelligence of emotions -- which led to a groundswell of research and popular press.  Dr. Mayer is presently a Professor of Psychology at the University of New Hampshire.  He has served on the editorial boards of Psychological Bulletin and the Journal of Personality, and has been a National Institute of Mental Health Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University.  Dr. Mayer's current work on emotional intelligence has been featured in TIME, McCalls, the Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times, and on many television and radio programs.  He has spoken on the topic in academic, business, and government forums, both nationally and internationally.

Anabel says people pay attention to less than 30% of what you say, but 70% of what you do, so she models the lessons she teaches -- even her graduate psychology courses at Notre Dame de Namuer University are experiential, learned-centered, and emotionally engaging. Anabel was the principal of Nueva School when Daniel Goleman came and wrote about the model EQ program there; under her guidance the school also won two Federal Blue Ribbon Awards for Excellence in Education. As the Founding President of Six Seconds EQ Network, Dr. Jensen has co-authored three books on teaching EQ, written numerous articles, and trained educators and leaders around the globe.
