Jackie Allen, Ed.D.Past President, American School Counselor Association. Jackie M. Allen is a nationally certified school counselor and school psychologist, specializing in neuropsychological assessment, with the Vermont Unified School District. She is a licensed marriage family therapist and an educational and management consultant with Allen Consulting Associates in Fermont, California. Jackie is also an adjunct faculty member of La Verne University. Nationally, Jackie has been President of the American School Counselor Association, serves on the American Counseling Association Governing Council and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Governing Board, and also serves as a key informant for the American Psychological Associations Healthy Lesbian, Gay & Bisexual Students Project and consultant for the School Health Policies and Program Study 2000. Jackie has been president of the California School Counselor Association and president of the California Association For Counseling and Development. She is currently President of the California Association for Counseling and Development Education Foundation, serves as chair for the California Alliance of Pupil Services Organization, is a member of the California School Health Work Group and represented counselors on the California Attorney Generals invitational conference on Drug and Alcohol Abuse and Prevention. |

| Jackie has been a part of several comprehensive health projects such as tie Education Development Center lntegrating Pupil Personnel Services into Comprehensive School Health and HIV AIDS Prevention Grant, the West Virginia Comprehensive School Health Education Training, the Comprehensive School Health Education Network Workshop in Houston, Texas, and the California Blueprint for Health Education, Dr. Allen is an accomplished presenter to national and international forums, presenting across the United States and in Spain, Argentina, Canada, Puerto Rico, the Virgin islands, and Russia. Representative workshop topics include psychological assessment in the schools, politics of school counseling, advocacy for accountability, action-oriented research, religious and value issues in counseling, organizational leadership, role of school counselor as change agent in education reform, education and vocational guidance for school reform, the child in crisis in the classroom, comprehensive school health and school counseling, the school counselors role with special education, integrated services models, and bilingual assessment for multicultural inclusion.
Jackie has authored and co-authored numerous documents and articles including Local Proactive counseling Leadership Compendium, the Action-Oriented Research Desk Guide for Professional School Counselors, School Counseling: Collaborating For Student Success, the Professional School Counselor: DecisionMaking Facilitator and Agent of Change, and Counseling In Community: Myth or Reality. She is editor of School Counseling: New Perspectives & Practices, an ERIC/CASS publication, and is a contributing member of the CACD Editorial Board. |
